I created a complete branding package for Korea Crush and its affiliate channels which includes logo design, intro and outro videos, music, additional sound design, and assisted with general video editing when workload was high.


Development Process Example: Kpop Crush

Korea Crush wanted a logo inspired by the then newly released single ‘Dynamite’ by the boy-band BTS

I originally wanted to created a simulacrum rather than copy it outright and send a sketch over.

But eventually settled on a design which uses the same typeface but had slightly different colours to avoid as much legal issues as possible

After settling on the logo design, I created an intro and outro sequence to be added to the subsequent videos. In order to keep variety, I created a few versions with different background music which are all remixes of Kpop songs.


Development Example: Tesla Now

Tesla Now is a smaller channel started by one of the lead team members at Korea Crush to broadcast their passion for all things Tesla, from stock options to development rumours. They requested a very simple logo design with a ‘thunderbolt’ to signify electricity.

The first iteration with a blue and white colour scheme but the client wanted something more energetic.

I italicized the text in order to convey a sense of movement without resorting to warping the edges.

The design was settled on one with a more dramatic bolt.

Also requested was a banner for the YouTube channel.

I eventually settled on a redesign that does away with the requested starfield background to a more flat design.

In terms of Motion Graphics they wanted something with sparks but early tests involved sparks more akin to welding or electrical faults so I created a stylized version using Trapcode Particular.
